At the academy, we want all students to feel included and be inspired to develop their talents – whatever they may be. We offer a broad balanced curriculum and an environment for learning which inspires our students to do their very best. This is what we expect.

Vision: The St Lawrence Academy will provide a Transformational learning experience for every individual. We will do this by creating a stimulating, challenging and rewarding learning environment in which all are supported to flourish, strive for excellence and succeed. environment experiences and relationships in which all individuals can find expression, be nourished and developed.

We aim for the academy to be at the heart of our local community where we will always be the first choice for our families. We want to work in partnership with all our parents/carers to create a positive learning culture where success is expected and celebrated.  We have an open door policy, with very clear structures and we want to welcome you into The St Lawrence Academy.  Your children are as important to us as they are to you, so they will do better if we work together.

The story of St Lawrence

This famous martyr of Rome lived in the second century.

He was one of seven deacons who were in charge of giving help to the poor and the needy.

The prefect of Rome, a greedy man, thought the Church had a great fortune hidden away. He ordered Lawrence to bring the Church’s treasure to him.

The saint said he would, in three days. Then he went through the city and gathered together all the poor and sick people supported by the Church. He showed them to the prefect and said: “These people are the Church’s treasure.”

The prefect was furious. In his anger he asked them to kill Lawrence slowly so he would suffer more. The saint was tied on top of an iron grill over a slow fire that roasted him.

We believe that the staff and students here at the Academy are OUR treasures.
