In Year 10, students are given the opportunity to hone their skills in this subject area. They will undertake a series of small designs and make assignments and in doing so they will learn to work with woods, metals and plastics. They will undertake design and make assignments such as a clock made from acrylic with the use of CAD and CAM. A wooden bird table where students will develop their wood working skills, and a tool hanger made from steel are the other projects taken in year 10.? Students will also be taught to draw in isometric, oblique and perspective by hand, and also taught to design in 3d using CAD tools.
In Year 11, students will submit their design and make an assignment which is themed around the area of storage. They will be given the opportunity to design a product of their own choosing and work through the project until it is completed.
