School Admission Arrangements in North Lincolnshire

School Admission Arrangements in North Lincolnshire

The council is consulting on changes to the wording of its admission arrangements for the 2019/20 intake year to improve clarity and compliance with the School Admissions Code. The key changes are:

  • Added information about requesting admission outside the normal age group
  • Added information about deferring starting school until the Spring or Summer terms
  • Definition of sibling altered to clarify that all children living as part of the same family unit at the same address will be included.
  • Definition of shortest available route to school altered to clarify that public paths will be used in addition to roads.
  • Overview catchment maps added (the maps are unchanged but have previously not been part of the document).

Most other admission authorities in the North Lincolnshire area are making similar amendments to their own arrangements and are also consulting.

Eastoft Church of England Primary School is also seeking to change its admissions criteria to remove those that refer to worshipping regularly at St Bartholomew’s Church or at any other Christian church. This will have the effect of making the school’s admission arrangements the same as those for council-controlled schools.

The Humber UTC is also seeking to remove council coordination of its year ten applications. This will enable the UTC to set a timetable more suited to recruiting year ten students and to receive their applications directly.

The sixth forms at Sir John Nelthorpe School, South Axholme Academy, and The Vale Academy are also seeking to change their academic entry criteria, due to changes in the grades for GCSE qualifications.
