BTEC Level 2 in Music

What are the benefits of the course?

  • Prepares students for a career in the Music industry, Media or Performing Arts
  • Students will be given the opportunity to develop performing skills through solo and ensemble
  • performances, this will include live events within the academy and at other venues, e.g. Sports
  • Presentation Evening/Talent Show and Live Lounge Performances
  • Students will learn to understand how to use music technology for live performance, music production and producing recordings.

How will I be assessed?


  • The Certificate is 100 % coursework with practical and written assignments
  • A research project on the Music Industry
  • Students will be required to perform in various ensembles directed by professional musicians
  • Students will record and produce a CD of performances and original material.


What key skills will I develop on the course?

  • To gain experience of managing a project – planning, preparing and rehearsing musical material
  • To develop the use of ICT skills through using various software. Multi-media presentations and recording equipment
  • Learn how to become a team member through performing, recording and producing music
  • To develop time management, communication skills and project management skills.
