Music Technology

In Year 8, students build upon the skills developed in Year 7 through performance and composition tasks that require them to be able to recreate and compose in specific styles and structures. Students explore how to create specific effects and detail in music through the use of tonality and musical devices.

The three units studied in Year 8 are:

  • World music (Indian)
  • Pop music and rock music
  • Media project (musical video).

Students are encouraged to explore different types of instrumentation in creative and practical ways. In lessons the following instruments will be used African drums, steel drums, guitars, classroom percussion, drum kit and keyboards.
